Two weeks ago I received a phone call from a gentleman searching for a wedding photographer to document his daughter’s wedding day. While of course that isn’t something out of the ordinary for me, it was out of the ordinary that the wedding is that of two lovely folks who were flying in from Texas to be married in Wisconsin! I just absolutely adore the fact that every day my job is something monumentally new and exciting! So, this past Saturday became Alesha & Jim’s classic winter military wedding in Eau Claire, WI.
Alesha & Jim met about three years ago when they were introduced by mutual friends and happened to meet at the gym. Here’s the fun twist of the story: both Alesha & Jim in the Army and are stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas – Jim has just recently returned from Afghanistan and Alesha from Germany. Alesha, a girl from Texas and Jim, a boy from Wisconsin meet and fall in love and fast forward to December 27th where they wake up to 5″ inches of beautiful white snow covering the ground for a winter wonderland Wisconsin wedding. I’m not sure we could have asked for more… as Ashley (Alesha’s father) and I spoke over the phone in the weeks leading up to the wedding we talked of how our snow had melted here and the dream was to have some snow on the ground to give the wedding that little bit of magic – and what do you know… we wake up to the snow softly hanging off of the trees and a bit of sunshine peeking out from under grey clouds. The perfect winter wedding day.
Thank you for choosing me, it was such a pleasure to document the day and spend time getting to know all of you. Cheers to a wonderful send off for my 2014 season, and here’s to the 2015 season which is quickly approaching. Congratulations Alesha & Jim!
