It had been on the calendar for months and months yet it seemed so far away. One Wednesday morning in October we packed up our car and headed East to a tiny town in the the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia to spend some time with my good friend Mandy and help her photograph a gorgeous rustic Camp Washington Carver wedding in Clifftop, WV. If you’re new to the blog then I’ll tell you a little bit about how Mandy and I met. Rewind to eight years ago when I received my second Rocky Mountain School of Photography course catalog… and I just knew I wasn’t done with college. So in the spring of that year I loaded up my car…. and headed West. 1300 miles west to Missoula, Montana. Where I found myself and some of the best friends that a girl could ask for. So, there on the steps of a building on the corner of Broadway and Higgins I met this gal that I now spend a lot of time shooting next to. Life brings us in amazing new directions for lots of reasons – and I know that I was supposed to go to photography school at that exact time.
On our latest adventure I gladly accepted the offer to help Mandy photograph Alissa & Kody’s lovely and gorgeous rustic wedding. Nestled on the top of a mountain at Camp Washington Carver near Babcock State Park Alissa & Kody were in huge preparations for their day when we arrived. Having made the final call to move their ceremony indoors just hours before we arrived there was a hustle and bustle to get all of the chairs and decorations situated just right. Alissa helped Kody do his hair and tie his bow-tie before heading to the upstairs for her final preparations.
It was a chilly October day and the rain did come, but the warmth inside Camp Washington Carver was from the love and laughter that surrounded these two! Congratulations to you both, and thank you Mandy for letting me help you with this wedding.
