This year I’m sharing a little something fun from my 2015 wedding season which wrapped up just weeks ago with a gorgeous fall wedding dripping in sweet buttery sunshine. It was such an amazing year – I witnessed some great and powerful love. So much so that I had tears of joy on many occasions (sometimes more than once a wedding), I laughed a ton and I documented the love of some pretty great folks. Here’s behind the scenes wedding photography 2015 edition.
In honor of their love and to share with you a bit what it’s like behind the scenes of a wedding day I’m sharing photos that my assistants and second shooter shot from a few weddings this year. So, what you’re seeing below are either raw behind the scenes iPhone or camera shots that give a little bit of a peek of what it really looks like where we’re shooting for the day. I’ll also be sharing a few of the after shots to show you what you would see as a guest or passerby and what I see through my lens.
Many thanks to my lovely assistants and second shooters for helping out in making this post possible and a huge thank you to my wonderful couples. I hope to make this a tradition through the years.
I think out of the whole season this photo on the top left is my very favorite behind-the-scenes shot from the year. It just really speaks to what REALLY goes on behind the scenes on a wedding day. The huge waves lapping at the shore, groomsmen relaxing and waiting their turn (all while holding the brides bouquet, too).
Sometimes it’s the magic of the area that draws me in like the shot above. It was this perfect little fishing spot on a canal and while the dock and the sidewalk weren’t all too pretty to the eye, everything else was!
Muddy driveways, trucks parked everywhere and yet this is one of my favorite shots I walked away with from Katelyn & Dan’s day with the ’57 Chevy Katelyn surprised Dan with.
During this anniversary shoot we had a lot of little aspects that encompassed a real wedding day. Here Danielle is getting ready in the window light in a barn.
Because Danielle & Kevin didn’t have a first look on their wedding day we thought it would be fun to do this when they got all dolled up for an anniversary shoot.
What you can’t see outside those barn doors is the torrential downpour, leftover dime size hail and downed branches and leaves. We got a little wet but we made the hazy skies work for us.
A little behind the scenes of shooting this gorgeous invitations suite by Mint for Hue.
