How to Announce Your Engagement on Social Media

Did you get something sweet and sparkly on your finger recently?  It’s the perfect time of year for engagements which means the pressure is on to announce your engagement to the world.  Today I’ve compiled a guide to announcing your engagement on social media to help you out!

Soak it In!

First things first – soak all of it in (before you pick up your phone and announce it anywhere).  Pop the cork on the champagne and relish in the fact that you two get to spend the rest of your lives together from this moment on!  Then, call your family…. After you’ve celebrated together let them know you’ll be planning to announce it to the world soon!

Let the Photos Do Your Talking

Maybe you don’t even need to say a word?  Maybe you just need to post a pretty little photo of the ring on your hand and his smiling face behind it or share one of your proposal pictures if your fiance planned a special surprise from a photographer for you.  All your friends will go crazy and will know exactly what you’re announcing!

Plan a Surprise Engagement Announcement Party (and Live Stream it)

Invite your family & friends over for a small gathering (or big one) and live stream their reaction to your huge announcement to Facebook & Instagram!  Not only will your family be surprised, those who can’t attend will still be getting the surprise at the same time!

Plan an Engagement Mini Session

Did your fiance not get your hint that you wanted a proposal photographer? Tell your family first but plan a mini engagement session shortly after getting engaged – and then share those images online with Facebook & Instagram!  How sweet is it that you’ll have some cozy photos together and get prepared for what the wedding day will be like by getting your photos taken while you’re still in the excited & giddy phase of your engagement & planning.

A Little Snail Mail

I’m a little old fashioned but I still love getting a handwritten card or piece of mail.  Maybe you neglected to get Christmas cards out this year and the best part about that is now you can send an announcement via the USPS.  Use your proposal photos or ones from your mini engagement session on a New Year card or announcement “We’re Engaged!” I know I would LOVE finding an announcement like that waiting in my mailbox.
