I absolutely love engagement sessions, if you ask me what is one of my favorite types of sessions you’ll generally hear ‘engagement sessions’ as one of them that I list off. It’s a time when I get to know the couple, they get to know me and we get to enjoy the day and spend time at some of their favorite spots. When Courtney contacted me about photographing their wedding next summer one of the things that she mentioned was that she would like to use family land and even their recently purchased family farm in their engagement photos – and friends let me tell you – those are the best words a photographer can hear. I absolutely adore when my clients choose locations that have a deep meaning to them, in fact one of the locations below is rooted in Courtney’s family from generations ago and it makes my heart swell to see that Courtney & Chris purchased the old family farm back, the house and barn that were built with hands many, many years ago. So today I share with you their backyard Wisconsin engagement session.
I have to also note that they have a pretty darn cute proposal story – so I must share that with you before you continue on to the photos. Chris purchased Courtney’s ring and it sat safely out of sight at his Mom & Dad’s house for quite some time – and his parents knew the ring was there. Chris’ dad told him that he didn’t want to see the ring until it was on Courtney’s finger, to be surprised at what it looked like – and so the ring was tucked away safely in a box. So each and every little getaway that Courtney & Chris took – his Dad would check to see if the ring box was there. It was. Each and every time his Dad would come up the stairs and tell Chris’ mom that it was still there. So, when Courtney & Chris took off to a wedding this past year in Canada, Chris’ dad trudged to the box and found it was still safely tucked away. However, Chris had tricked his Dad and took the ring out and left the box. Needless to say when Chris called to announce the amazing news that Courtney had said ‘YES’ there was a bit of disbelief…. but it’s true – the ring was now on her finger! Hooray!
I can’t wait to celebrate with these two at their rustic barn wedding next July!
