Dixon’s Apple Orchard Wedding in Cadott, WI
They had searched their entire lives for each other, but couldn’t find one another because they were living in separate countries. Asmaile in Venezuela, Todd in America. But in 2016 while Asmaile was living in Minneapolis – a message was sent by Todd and almost missed by her… but it wasn’t. She replied just before closing her account and they decided to meet for a Twins vs. Royals game in Minneapolis and have been truly inseparable from that day.
Last Friday the radar was showing storms all day, the forecast was for thunderstorms, rain and not a whole lot of sunshine. When we arrived at Dixon’s Apple Orchard the sun was shining and we found Asmaile & Todd getting ready separately – both so full of joy and excitement. Just as Asmaile was getting into the horse drawn carriage to walk down the aisle with her dad, the wind picked up, the skies thundered and big drops of rain started coming down – but there was blue sky in the distance. We held out for a few minutes and it was sunshine for the ceremony & all of their portraits. You couldn’t ask for more!
Thank you both so much for allowing me to document your story over the past year – it has been nothing short of amazing to get to know the both of you. I love your story – and that you find so much joy together in life! Congratulations!
Special thanks to these amazing vendors!

The necklace that Asmaile wore is the Virgen del Valle (Virgin of the Valley) and is the same as the Virgin Mary but, her image was found by a fisherman who was drowning and he saw the image in a pearl shell. She saved him & protect all of the fishermen on the coast of Venezuela. Asmaile’s grandma Luisa was born on 9/8 which is the day they celebrate Virgen del Valle – so Asmaile believes in her because of her grandma and also because her dad’s name is Asdrubal “Del Valle.”
Asmaile pinned the colors of her home country flag to her wedding bouquet.

Todd proposed to Asmaile in a row boat – so that was part of the reason they fell in love with Dixon’s orchard.
Asmaile & Todd also included another nod to Venezuelan tradition with La Hora Loca or “Crazy Hour” during the first hour of their reception. Their guests donned masks, hats and other fun items and danced to loud, amazing music!
A double rainbow popped up after a shower during dinner!
