Katie & Chris’ day is one of those weddings that’s hard for me to describe because there was just so much of every loving emotion and hard work put into each and every detail of their day, it was a beautiful outdoor Lake Wissota, WI wedding. Their day was one of those things I feel like you had to see with your own eyes and experience for yourself because of the warmth and inviting nature of Katie & Chris and their families. The week before Katie & Chris’ big day it rained, and rained, and rained (and that’s putting it lightly). See, I had met with Katie and Chris earlier in the summer to take a look at their ceremony & reception site which was located on Chris’ parents farm between two gorgeous ponds with so much peace, quiet and loveliness. Katie & Chris had been lovingly taking care of the land, preparing it all summer for the big day – and then this rain slammed us for a week straight. To say the least I was a bit nervous that they would be up to their knees in mud during their vows – but as we arrived we quickly found out that the heavens were thinking of them that day with bright sun, warm temperatures and mostly dried up land (there was a teeny bit of trouble with the dance floor and they had to buy lots of plywood to make sure it wouldn’t sink into the mud… but hey – they danced until dawn my friends).
I can’t even explain the fun that was had for Katie & Chris’ celebration….. your eyes have to see it to believe it but it included: an old farm, an old schoolhouse, their very own hay wagon ride to a local favorite tavern (this is done Wisconsin-style my friends), oh and I won’t forget — FIREWORKS!
I am so thrilled that I was able to work with Katie & Chris on their big day, and very happy to have a very special second shooter for the day, too. A big shout out goes to my friend Mandy who drove 1000 miles to be at my side that day, I’ll update you soon when her blog post and view of the day goes live. Until then I’ll let you feast your eyes on Katie & Chris’ day.
