It was something that Todd said the night of their Big Falls elopement session that struck me and really stood out about these two. Todd said to Asmaile, “no wonder I couldn’t find you all these years, you were in Venezuela.” It wasn’t until a year ago (9/8/16 to be exact) that Todd & Asmaile had their very first date thanks to eHarmony. It was a date almost didn’t happen, as the message Todd sent to Asmaile had been sitting in her inbox for a month, unseen. But that day they met for a Twins vs. Royals game in Minneapolis. They joked about how they met, where they parked – but in the end – they’ve been inseparable since that day.
Just about four years ago, Asmaile moved to America, a former journalist in Venezuela she decided to put down her roots with her brothers in Minneapolis. But something was missing, and that was Todd. Just a few short months ago, he proposed in a row boat to Asmaile and now they’re planning a May wedding at Dixon’s Orchard in Cadott, which coincidentally also has a pretty neat little row boat that we’re going to have to use for their big day.
What makes their engagement session fun and why I mentioned it as an elopement session is that the very next day after these images were taken, Todd & Asmaile made it official and she stole his last name. See, in Venezuelan tradition the ceremony & party portions of a wedding day are kept separate – and I am just so happy that I get to document that party part! Thank you for letting me document these, too!
Todd made these shirts for the two of them, half heart of the United States and half heart of Venezuela.
YOU are absolutely awesome! the best photographer!
