It began as a perfect Midwest day, complete with fluffy clouds a gorgeous barn venue and a couple about to celebrate their 8th year of marriage. Danielle and Kevin are high school sweethearts, have been together 14 years and just welcomed their second son. Their love is a perfect excuse for a romantic Wisconsin anniversary shoot!
When I started dreaming about a springy or summer inspiration shoot back at the end of February Danielle and Kevin were the first couple I wanted to contact about an anniversary shoot because of just how in love they are with each other. So together with some of the wedding industries finest vendors (all listed below) over months of emails, meetings and lunch dates we dreamed and crafted a day that would make a bride swoon. We wanted to create a romantic boho chic look with a rustic backdrop as the rustic theme is still very popular in the Midwest yet leaving behind the burlap, mason jars and babies breath and show how to put a different spin on the traditional barn wedding. We knew we wanted soft, lovely florals topped off with a stunning floral crown and no detail was overlooked. I even painstakingly handmade the macaroons you’ll see below for weeks in advance of the shoot to perfect the baking skills needed to master the fragile and tasty treats. Don’t worry, I left the stunning naked cake to the most amazing cake designer!
In the afternoon just as hair and makeup were being finished on Danielle the storm clouds rolled in and gave us a healthy dousing of torrential rain, wind and hail that covered the ground like a November snowstorm. We huddled by the barn doors waiting for the dark clouds and danger to pass and the sun eventually showed her lovely self for some amazing evening buttery light. All in all it was a magical day fit for the love of Danielle & Kevin.
One other thing I want to touch base on before the images is that while we went into this wanting to show how you can put a spin on a traditional barn wedding we wanted to showcase our abilities in coming together from different branches of the wedding industry. As you’ll see below we have seamlessly & flawlessly worked in tandem to create something truly magnificent. Each and every vendor was amazing and so very easy to work with, and truly isn’t that what every couple wants on their wedding day? I can’t speak highly enough for each of the vendors listed at the bottom of this post or thank them enough – in a heartbeat I would hire any one of them over & over to infinity. So, if by chance you’re looking for an amazing florist, stationer, venue, hairstylist, or cake artist (can I just tell you the cake tasted AMAZING too??) you should definitely contact one of these gals. They’ll treat you like royalty and make your day shine just as much as your love.
Our shoot has also been featured on Style Me Pretty, what an amazing honor! You can check that out here!
