I met Sarah on a blustery afternoon a few months ago to chat with her over pie about the wedding she and her fiance Jon were planning for this August, in my mind now it seems so far away that we were chatting about the details of what they were envisioning for their outdoor Eau Claire engagement session but just this week that date rolled around. Sarah & Jon have such a fun story about how they met and about how he proposed – I just love hearing the little stories that go behind the love and relationship of the couples I photograph.
Sarah & Jon met at work… sitting just cubicles from each other. How neat is that? Sarah attended UW-Stout while Jon attended UW-Eau Claire and their local Eau Claire jobs brought them together, and while they don’t sit cubicles from each other anymore as they’ve each moved up within the company it’s fun to know that love might be sitting just a few chairs down from you where you spend most of your life.
So, the really neat part of this story is that one of their first dates together was walking around the UW-Eau Claire campus, and they went below the UW-EC footbridge and skipped rocks along the shore of the Chippewa River — and that’s also where Jon proposed to Sarah this past fall! See, Jon told Sarah he was going to take her out for breakfast (her favorite part of the day…) and of course she obliged but they made a little detour to the UW-EC campus and took a walk on the shore of the river and skipped some rocks when Jon called Sarah back to this little spot in the sand where he had spelled out rocks saying “MARRY ME?”. (Goosebumps ensue, over here.) Jon had worked on the piece for two nights before the big proposal and to make sure that it was left untouched. Guess what, there is an insanely happy ending to this story. Sarah said, “YES!” and they went out for breakfast to celebrate afterwards.
Sarah & Jon are getting married in August at Fanny Hill, overlooking the beautiful Chippewa Valley!
