Rib Mountain Amphitheater Wedding
Four years ago, one of Taylor’s friends invited him to his sons flag football game and it just so happens that his wife invited one of her friends to the game, too. That friends name was Casey. He bought her a hot chocolate at the concession stand and they wound up at their friends house playing family board games all night. They knew it was meant to be!
Just over a year ago I photographed Casey & Taylor’s engagement session in Wausau and we talked over their plans of their big day and how there would be a chairlift ride and the ceremony would look over Wausau and beyond at their Rib Mountain amphitheater wedding. It seemed like a dream because when I first met these two over Skype we were just about 18 months out to their wedding. But, let me tell you. Their wedding day WAS a dream.
When I arrived at Casey & Taylor’s house the morning of the wedding the girls were quietly getting ready awaiting Casey to arrive back from the salon. When she did it was utter joy & excitement. She slipped on her gown in the backyard of the home they love and chose for its yard that feels like a forest. Casey carried with her a remembrance of her father, grandmother and grandfather on her bouquet. A special reminder to keep them close to her heart, Casey even chose a gown to show off the tattoo done in honor of her father. As I took off for Rib Mountain to greet the guys, the sun came out! Taylor greeted us while opening wine bottles for the unity wine ceremony they would share later, each pouring wine into a glass to share and unite themselves.
After a joy and happy tear-filled ceremony Casey & Taylor burned a little rubber in the parking lot, cans trailing behind their Dodge Challenger. When we pulled up to the Granite Peak Sundance Chalet where they were having their reception we snuck by and hopped on the chairlift which brought us back to the state park where we shot all of their portraits. What I absolutely adored about this was that Casey & Taylor had a chance to be by themselves, all alone. They had a few minutes to just be and enjoy themselves on their wedding day. Not many folks get that chance!
Truly, such a beautiful day and I am so happy for these two! Enjoy that honeymoon in Ireland!
A pin passed down, carried all day long.
Thank you to Sara for this image!
The most beautiful ceremony location!
Taylor and his custom made suit with a special tag inside to commemorate the day.
Feet dangling from the chairlift, light shining through the lace dress. Perfection.
Who climbs boulders, stone steps and rocks on their wedding day? Casey & Taylor!
My favorite? Quite possibly!
