Together this past week Stephanie & Dana explored Dana’s hometown for their Ladysmith Engagement session. The blooms were just bursting out in all of their glory all over town, and we took off to a little spot with a lot of heart behind it for Dana’s family. It is a little barn of what’s left of an original homestead on family land, where I was told there were 9 children living and at times the boys had to sleep with the livestock in the winter to keep everyone warm. They’re so lucky to still have a piece of this family history still standing!
I asked Stephanie and Dana to tell me a bit about how they met, see these two lovebirds who are getting married this August at Norskedalen near LaCrosse have been together just about 8 years. They met with a group of mutual friends to go to a movie at the Rivoli (a LaCrosse movie theater). After a few pitchers of beer, laughter and general enjoyment the night ended… but the next day Dana texted Steph to ask if she would like to hang out again. In Steph’s words, “I responded by telling him I was at my daughter’s picnic. He didn’t respond right away so Stephanie assumed he “ran for the hills.” Turns out that wasn’t the case. He’d get back to her asking if another time worked. Elated that he wasn’t afraid of a little toddler, she agreed. Years have passed, memories made, tears shared, two angel babies born to heaven, countless laughs, endless support and love strengthened, and finally he proposed on a beautiful November afternoon.”
When I asked Stephanie and Dana to share a bit about how much they love each other they had such sweet and memorable things to share about each other.
From Steph: “I love Dana’s determination and drive. He sets goals for himself and works diligently to achieve them. He is a great role model for Abrianna in this way, and many others. He does everything he can to support and take care of “his girls” as he calls Abrianna and I. His bond with Abrianna is amazing to witness. They are two peas in a pod, and I am very lucky for this.”
From Dana: “I love her smile and her laugh. I love that she always keeps her head held high and her perseverance. I love how she goes the extra mile for Abrianna and I without expecting anything in return. I love how great of a mother she is and will be. I love how she laughs at her lame jokes and doesn’t care. Most of all, I love that she loves me. And she’s an awesome cook.”
I’m so much looking forward to photographing their wedding this August which is just around the corner!
