Just a couple weeks ago I posted a lovely maternity session with Teresa and big sister Keili – and now beautiful Alexia is making her debut on the blog! She fought hard to stay awake during the session (so alert!) but Momma finally rocked her to sleep and we were able to capture some amazing sleepy photos of A.

Remember this amazingly fun and beautiful family from last spring – they were a family of three, adding the fourth in the next month! I was so excited to meet up with Kristin and D to shoot her maternity session, we’d been talking about it since she told me she was expecting! We took advantage of the unusually warm weather we’ve been enjoying in Wisconsin the past couple of weeks and had a ton of fun with baby Uggs from a very special Aunt and listening to D talk in the tunnel (echos!)! D is predicting a girl, what do you guys think?

It’s always great catching up with old friends and I’m so glad I could catch up with Teresa while photographing her maternity session ON her due date… and as of yet I don’t believe baby girl has made an appearance but I know that when she does big sister K is going to be really excited! She’s so excited she had to draw a special picture just for the session.

1. WHAT IS AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION ALL ABOUT?
I LOVE engagement photos! They’re one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph! I love getting to know you as a couple more than just us having coffee over samples and questions! This is the time where you get to shine, and you learn what it’s like to be in front of the lens (it’s not so scary, really)! Plus it’s just a time for you two to be together and capture something to share with your family, friends and future generations!
2. LOCATION
One of my favorite parts of an engagement session is the location. When thinking about where you want your engagement session think of a place that means something to the both of you as a couple… is it where you met? Your favorite fishing hole? Maybe your favorite diner? Or the State Fair? Our options are endless, and if you just can’t think of a great place – well I have a bunch of fantastic locations that you’ll absolutely love
3. WHAT TO WEAR
Be confident, be yourself and the beauty of your love together will show through! Make sure to bring a few fun options for your engagement session and make sure you love all of the pieces and feel beautiful and like yourself in them! It always helps to coordinate your outfits with each other, but not matchy-matchy. Don’t forget to accessorize and bring extra shoes!
4. CONSIDER PROFESSIONAL HAIR + MAKEUP
Consider hiring a professional makeup artist + hair stylist for your engagement session, in addition to making you feel more confident it will also get you acquainted with professionals for your big day! Plus, who doesn’t want a day of pampering?
5. HAVE FUN + RELAX
The most important thing to remember for an engagement session is to have fun and relax! It’s all about hanging out and you guys showing your love for each other! I can’t wait to capture your connection!
