From the moment we walked into Madelon’s room the morning that Madelon & Chris got married I could feel love bursting through the seams of every person in the room. Music created a welcoming atmosphere, hair and makeup was just finishing up, and Madelon greeted us warmly by the door. A heartfelt wedding at Tagalong Golf Course in Birchwood, WI, Madeon & Chris’ day was an intimate destination wedding for 65 of their closest family and friends. Let me tell you a bit about how Madelon & Chris met and about their day before we get to the images.
Madelon was living in California, home in Minnesota for a friends wedding when her friend asked her if she would like to meet this guy named Chris. Madelon brushed off the thought at first because of the fact that she was living in California and it would be hard to meet someone in MN then to go home to California. Her friend convinced her otherwise and set up a time for Madelon and Chris to meet at Madelon’s fathers restaurant Cave Vin in Minneapolis. So the two met and the courting began – Madelon moved back to Minnesota. Fast forward to their engagement – Chris set up an elaborate plan to propose to Madelon at the place they met with the help of her father, Chris set up a romantic evening with candles and photographs at Cave Vin and marked an X on the floor to the place where they met. Once Madelon’s father got her to the restaurant under the ruse of a birthday party for himself Madelon was stunned to see what Chris had set up and where he got on his knee – in the place where they met – and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together.
Madelon & Chris’ day was infused with the most love and care – with a dress passed down from her mother – and updated as you’ll see below to fit Madelon like a glove, Chris’ tie purchased with Madelon’s father, a locket to carry in Chris’ pocket, a pearl necklace Madelon’s mother was given on her own wedding day, hankies from Madelon’s step-mother, and a love that spills over into all that they do. It’s hard for me to put their day into words because of the love I remember on their faces and captured in photographs – and not just Madelon & Chris – their family and friends who traveled to be with them and share in their day.
I am so happy that you chose me to photograph your day, especially with my wonderful second photographer – Mandy (link to her blog post coming soon). Congratulations to you both!
Borrowed beauties, and some new things too – the handkerchief was her step-grandmothers and the pearl necklace was given to Madelon’s mother on her own wedding day.
The dress with the beautiful story, here is a photo Madelon showed us of her mother’s gown before it was customized for Madelon.
Madelon & her Mother sharing a moment looking at the photos of the dress.
A little Vaseline for your teeth keeps it easier for you to keep smiling …. a little something new I learned on M & C’s wedding day.
I always tell my couples this: things happen. and it’s ok if they do. It was at this point that Madelon & Chris realized that the marriage license had been forgotten at the resort… no fear Chris’ Father saved the day!
The rings that Chris lovingly chose for Madelon and a locket that Chris carried that was given to him by Madelon’s Mother – and her Mother had given it to her.
